The Myth of “When I’m Ready”

We’ve all said it: “I’ll do it when I’m ready.”
Ready to start the business. Ready to write the book. Ready to take the risk. Ready to change.

The problem? “Ready” is a moving target. Every time we get close, we find another reason to wait.

“I just need more money.”

“I just need more time.”

“I just need to learn a bit more.”

Truth is, most people never feel ready, not even the ones who look like they have it all figured out. They just start anyway. They act, fail, learn, and adjust while in motion.

The Illusion of Perfect Timing

Waiting for readiness is like waiting for the perfect weather before leaving the house. If you keep waiting, you might never step outside. The truth is, life rarely hands you a crystal-clear “Now is the time!” moment. More often than not, your opportunity is wrapped in uncertainty and discomfort.

The people you admire? They didn’t start because they felt ready. They started because they decided they couldn’t afford to wait any longer.

Readiness is Built, Not Found

Here’s the uncomfortable truth: readiness is not a feeling you wait for, it’s a muscle you build.

The moment you start moving, you start feeling ready.

The more you move, the stronger that muscle gets.

The more you wait, the weaker your courage becomes.

You’ll never learn to swim by waiting until you’re confident. You learn by getting into the water, splashing, and figuring it out stroke by stroke.

How to Start Before You Feel Ready

1. Break the big leap into small steps. You don’t need to launch with perfection. Just begin.

2. Accept the discomfort. Growth always feels awkward at first. That’s normal.

3. Act before overthinking kills it. If you get an idea, take at least one action within 24 hours.

4. Measure progress, not perfection. Celebrate the fact that you’re moving.

Final Thought

Stop waiting for “ready.” The perfect time you’re hoping for doesn’t exist but progress? That starts the moment you do.

Start now. Not tomorrow. Not when it’s easier. Now.
